ACTIVITIES

We offer you the opportunity to learn a new skill whilst on vacation. This can provide an interesting focus for your holiday and a fun way to make friends. Classes/Workshops will normally be 2-3 hours daily or less, leaving you the rest of the day to laze about or sight-see. Even if you are staying in a hotel, you would be most welcome to take a workshop with us.

We have currently on offer:

Steel Pan Workshops

These are conducted by the leader of a well-known, professional steel pan group in the Grand Anse area. He will lead you through the history and development of pan and the basics of playing this amazing instrument, the only new instrument to be invented in the 20th century. By the time you leave you ought to be able to play a little tune. Great fun for all! US$25 per person per hour.TUMBA drummers

Drumming Workshops

Run by Raymond who can host small or large group classes at his home in the country village of La Fillette, near Grenville, St.Andrew's. You can combine the workshop with a delicious local vegetarian lunch. The level can be pitched at experienced players or complete beginners - an enthusiasm to learn is the main thing! African/Caribbean rhythms explored. Traditional goatskin drums will be provided.

Introduction to West Indian Cookery

Love spicy cooking? Why not take a few lessons in preparing Grenadian specialities? Learn to make Oil-down, the national dish, Peas and Rice, Calalloo Soup or Banana Bread amongst many others. Zahra, who has much catering experience, teaches this course from her beautiful spacious kitchen 15 minutes' from St.George's..

If this is not possible, you can go to one of our homes in Bailles Bacolet.where Jean, who is also an experienced cook and teacher, can take larger groups for workshops, and you can walk around her garden or go to the local beach afterwards. Our community tours offer a cooking workshop here for small groups. You will, of course, enjoy the fruits of your labour for your lunch!
